Catch fish, win prizes, and raise money for local children. That is what the Annual Kiwanis Club of the Azalea City Bass Tournament is all about, doing it for the kids. The second annual event presented by Holbrook Manufacturing fielded 104 teams from across North Florida on the St. Johns River, in an effort to raise funds towards scholarships for kids within Putnam County. And the event did just that, raising more than $15,000.00 through donations, sponsorships, raffle prizes, and silent auction items while still paying out $19,390.00 in total cash awards.
Competing teams were vying for the top prize of $5,000.00, one of the six big bass awards, and also included a side pot for Junior and High School teams.

The 2nd Annual Kiwanis Club of the Azalea City Bass Tournament saw the team of Wes Harrington and Bobby Simpson atop the leaderboard at the close of the scales. Harrington and Simpson weighed a 24.71 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the win.
Derrick Manning and Austin Manning finished the day in second place, weighing a 24.26 pound, 5 bass limit. Donnie Feagle and Seth Slanker took home a third place finish with a 24.12 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jesse Nash and Joe Riley with 22.51 pounds, followed by William Moody and Keith Heaberlin with 21.94 pounds.

Bentley Brown and Lawton Rollison weighed a 14.53 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the Top JR/HS team side pot worth $1,000.00 thanks to Bass Assassin Lures and Robin Shiver.

Matt Crews and Luke Crews took home the honors of biggest bass of the event and one of six big bass prizes awarded. Their bass was the only Trophy Catch quality fish brought to the scales, weighing in at 8.62 pounds.
